The battle between game developers is getting fiercer every year. It seems that 2014 will be the best year ever for gamers, especially after the launch of next-gen consoles like PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. Below is a list for the most anticipated games this year.

Grand Theft Auto V

GTA V is an open world video game developed by Rockstar North. The game is played from a third person perspective where players can control three different protagonists in a series of adventures that take place in the fictional city of Los Santos. The game has already launched on Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, however, Rockstar Games announced that it is scheduled to be released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in Q3/Q4 2014. GTA V is currently the fastest selling entertainment product in history, earning a cool $1 billion in its first three days on sale.

Far Cry 4

Far Cry 4 is an open world first person shooter game developed by Ubisoft Montreal. Players control Ajay Ghale who finds himself caught up in the middle of civil war that takes places in Kyrat, a wild region of the Himalayas that is struggling under the regime of King Pagan Min. The game is expected to be released next November on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Destiny

Destiny is an action role-playing first person shooter game developed by Bungie. The player controls the guardians, the last defenders of humanity, in an effort to protect Earth’s last standing city against hostile alien species whose goal is to completely wipe out the human race. The game is expected to be released next September on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity

The seventh installment in the Assassin’s Creed series is a historical open world adventure video game developed by Ubisoft Monteral. The game takes place in Paris during the French Revolution where players follow Arno Dorian and his fellow assassins in their efforts to expose the true powers behind the revolution. The game is scheduled to be released next October on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

This is an action role playing video game with an open world setting that is developed by Monolith Productions. The game takes place in the Lord of the Rings universe and is supposed to bridge the gap between events that took place in the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings saga. The player controls a ranger known as Talion whose family is murdered by Sauron’s armies; the main goal is to exact revenge on Sauron. The game is expected to be released next October on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

The eleventh game in the Call of Duty series, and the most successful first person shooter game in history. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is developed by Sledgehammer Games, and takes place in the year 2054 where the largest military force in the world belongs to a private corporation called Atlas. Actor Kevin Spacey plays a role in the game as Jonathan Irons, the CEO and founder of Atlas. The game is set to be released next November for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One and Wii U.

Civilization: Beyond Earth

This is the fifth installment in the highly successful Civilization series. Civilization: Beyond Earth is a turn-based strategy game developed by Firaxis Games. The game takes place in the future where mankind is traveling around the universe and colonising extraterrestrial planets. The game is supposed to be released in the fall of 2014 on Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

EA Sports UFC

A mixed martial arts video games developed by Electronic Arts, the game is based on the on the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) brand. This will be the first UFC game developed by EA Aports after it bought the license from THQ. The game is expected to be released in June on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Battlefield Hardline

The next game in the highly successful Battlefield series, Hardline is a first person shooter video game developed by Visceral Games and EA Digital Illusions CE. The game is expected to be released next October on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Dragon Age: Inquisition

The third major game in the Dragon Age franchise, Inquisition is a role playing video game developed by BioWare. The game takes place in a fantasy world known as Thedas where players take the role of the Inquisitor and lead a team of legendary heroes to uncover the truth behind the impending devastation. The game is expected to be released next October on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

The Crew

The Crew is a racing video game with an open world setting developed by Ivory Tower and Ubisoft Reflections. The main goal is to overtake the 510s, a gang thriving around Detroit’s illegal street racing scene. The game is expected to be released next November on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

This is the third game in the Borderlands series, a prequel to the second game in the series, Borderlands 2. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is a first person shooter video game developed by 2K Australia and Gearbox Software. The game takes place in a zero-gravity environment on Pandora’s moon, and is expected to be released next October on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

FIFA 15

The 15th game in the most successful football franchise in history, FIFA 15 is developed by Electronic Arts. It is supposed to bring more details to the game with higher artificial intelligence, better team tactics, stunning player visuals and better player control in comparison to previous games in the franchise.
