President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi held a meeting on Sunday with Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab and a host of ministers to discuss a planned reclamation project of four million feddans in Sinai and Upper Egypt.
The meeting reviewed details of reclamation of the four million feddans as a part of an agricultural development programme, said spokesman for the Presidency Ihab Badawi.
Present at the meeting were the ministers of planning, local development, housing, finance, water resources and irrigation, agriculture and land reclamation along with the governors of South Sinai, North Sinai, Matrouh, Luxor, Aswan, Minya, Qena and the New Valley.
The planned four million feddans include 108,000 feddans in Toshka, Badawi said. The rest of the targeted area includes new Farafra, the extension of Dakhla Oasis, south of Qattara, West of Minya and east of Siwa Oasis, he added.
The president stressed the need for good and integrated preparation for the first phase of the project, until it is fully completed as soon as possible, Badawy said.
