President Al-Sisi receives invitation to visit China next month


President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi met with Meng Jianzhu, the special envoy of Chinese President Xi Jinping and secretary of Central Politics and Law Commission of the Communist Party of China, at the presidential headquarters on Saturday.

The Chinese envoy conveyed greetings of President Xi to President Al-Sisi and extended an official invitation to the president to visit China next month.

Jianzhu stressed the importance his country attaches to this visit as well as keenness of President Xi to issue directives to all bodies concerned to render it a success.

He noted that relations between the two countries will be upgraded to the level of “comprehensive strategic partnership” to be in concert with the level of relations binding the two countries. He also lauded all measures taken by president Al-Sisi to boost development at the economic and social levels.

“China cherishes its relations with Egypt as a strategic partner and is keen on enhancing its relations with Egypt in all fields, said Jianzhu.

He added that his country encourages Chinese companies to invest in Egypt and take part in giant development projects.

For his part, president Al-Sisi asked Meng Jianzhu to convey his best wishes to president Xi, stressing the depth of relations between the two countries.

The president noted that his coming visit reflects the appreciation and respect of the Egyptian leadership and people to China, stressing China’s goodwill towards Egypt.

He expressed the Egyptian people’s admiration of Chinese history and China’s great achievements.

At the economic level, Al-Sisi said that Egypt is looking forward to more Chinese investments in Egypt especially in light of the projects currently being implemented by the Egyptian government topped by the New Suez Canal.

Minister of Interior Mohammad Ibrahim, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukri and the Chinese ambassador in Cairo attended the meeting.
